Coaching
Coaching engagements are action-oriented, solution-focused work towards specific goals. This technique gets our thinking and knowledge on the table. We organize it into a plan of action that will move you toward your goal. Then you put the plan into practice. When you return, we unpack what happened, what you learned, and what comes next.
If you have a goal, a project, or a short-term challenge, coaching may be a great fit. Some of the goals I have experience coaching include:
· Professional creative projects : a portfolio, a novel, a play, a movie, or performance.
· Professional life changes: starting or leaving a job.
· Personal life changes: starting or ending a relationship.
· New habits or lifestyles for health and balance.
· Caregiving for family members.
· Career advancement.
· Higher education.
· Moving homes or relocating.
Every session aims for a key takeaway and defined next steps. We will both take notes. The discussion is likely to be energetic. I’ll ask every question I can think of that starts with “who, what, where, when, and how”.
“Why?” is coaching question that can be used to explore motivation toward a goal. But in my experience, “why” tends to lead toward reflection and analysis. “Why?” is question I ask more in the therapy setting.
The goal is to drive change. Taking action is a crucial component in the energy and value of coaching. We structure a coaching engagement to support this, so you commit to a package of sessions in a three-month period. The time limit helps keep us in action.
Coaching sessions are high-intensity and hyper-focused. Sessions are available only in packages of five (5) which are to be used within 90 days.
